At 30 Watts RMS, Logitech’s Z323 speaker system is the smaller sibling to their 40 Watt RMS Z523 system. As I indicate in my Amazon review of the Z523 system, I am mightily impressed with it, as I am with the Z323 system. As I say in my review of the Z523 system, it makes the other PC/MP3-player type speaker systems I own and have owned obsolete (one major reason for this being that the system features “360 degree” or omnidirectional sound). The decrease in wattage comes at a thirty dollar decrease in the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. The subwoofer is smaller (approximately 8 1/2 inches high measuring from the bottom of the feet by 5 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches deep, compared to approximately 10 inches high by 9 X 9 for the Z523 sub), and unlike the bass control knob for the Z523 system, which is conveniently located right below the volume knob on the right satellite, the bass control for the Z323 system is inconveniently located on the upper rear of the sub. I say inconveniently because I like to be able to change the bass level depending on what I’m listening to, and in order to change the bass level on the Z323 system I have to get up and walk around my desk and get down on the floor. With the Z523 system I just reach in front of me to the right speaker.

The Z323 satellites are virtually the same size, shape, and design as the Z523 satellites. (One difference is that the Z323 satellites have ports on the front while the Z523 have rear-facing ports.) A side by side “experiential” comparison with the Z523 satellites leads me to rate the Z323 satellites equal or perhaps a tad better, and the highs seem slightly warmer. When playing a selection by the German band Seabound on which the speaker whispers some lyrics (in English), I could make out the words when listening with the Z323s whereas I could not make them out as easily when listening with the Z523s.

Classical music sounds great on the Z323 system. A side by side comparison of the Z323 with the Z523 systems playing selections from the recently released recording of Mozart’s opera Idomeneo conducted by Rene Jacobs, as well as a sampling of BBC Radio 3, leads me to rate each system equal in sound quality.

When listening to rock music played through my laptop with the laptop volume and the subwoofer bass knob turned to the maximum levels, the Z323 subwoofer’s sound became distorted and I had to turn the bass knob down to nearly the half-way point before it was undistorted. I have never experienced that with the Z523 system, and sometimes I play that system very loud (e.g., when working out in an adjacent room).

Like the Z523 system, the Z323 system delivers “360 degree” or omnidirectional sound, made possible by the fact that the satellites have speakers on their backs as well as their fronts.

And like the Z523 system, the Z323 system sounds great whether the source is my laptop, MP3 player, or portable CD player.

If I had to choose one system over the other, assuming floor space to accommodate the subwoofer is not an issue and assuming the additional cost of the Z523 over the Z323 is not a deal-breaker, I would choose the Z523 system over the Z323 system for three reasons: Location of the bass control knob is considerably more convenient (for me, at least); I don’t like that the Z323 subwoofer sound gets distorted when I turned the audio volume and subwoofer volume to their maximum levels; and because the speakers on the Z323 satellites are unprotected, unlike the speakers on the Z523 satellites which are protected by metal grills. (Regarding the distortion at high volume and high bass level, nothing appears to be loose; the screws that secure the subwoofer speaker to the cabinet are tight and the port cone is not at all loose. My guess is that the smaller subwoofer simply can’t handle that much volume. Regarding the unprotected speakers on the Z323 satellites, this matters to me because I seem to be prone to knocking over PC speakers, causing them to fall from desktop to floor, and I anticipate that one of these days the cat will knock one over.) Having said all that, if my set up was such that I worked in a small room and I could place the subwoofer close enough to me on the floor that I could reach down behind it to adjust the bass knob, and I didn’t anticipate ever wanting to play the system very loud (by which I mean really blasting it), then I think the Z323 system would be an excellent choice. (I rated it 3 out of 5 stars for “Comfort” and 4 for “Ease of use” because of what to me is the inconvenient location of the bass knob.)

Not bad for the price range, not spectacular though, October 21, 2009

Having owned several speaker systems through the years and generally finding the Logitech series a bit on the bassy side overall, I was excited to be able to test out the new Z323 set to see how their systems have come along.

Comparison speakers:
Creative Labs SBS260 (~), Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 THX (~0)

Sound Tests:
Music: Janice Ian – Breaking Silence, Eagles – Hotel California (Live – Hell Freezes Over) both FLAC
Games: World of Warcraft, Plants vs. Zombies (because I can!)
Movies: Fifth Element (Opera scene), Top Gun (first dogfight)

Sound Card:
Creative Labs X-Fi, default Windows sound control panel applet

Music Test:
I like using both the Janice Ian and Eagles song because both songs have a very high fidelity requirement. The bass should be punchy but not overwhelming and the treble in the instruments should be clear and sharp. Having a good sound system will also make a world of difference when hearing the vocals.

The Logitechs performed much better than the Sound Blasters (as expected), the sub providing much more “oomph” than the built in woofer in the smaller SBS260′s. When compared to the Klipschs’ though, the sound quality was noticeably lacking in the clarity department. The treble and higher notes were reproduced relatively faithfully, although the depth of the vocal range felt very flat and limited. What was particularly noticeable however, was the bass bleed. First, the subwoofer had to be turned down to at least half-power in order to stop bass-distortion, but even at that point the bass was very “thuddy”. Within the song “Hotel California,” the bass drum should strike and feel like a quick blow to the chest, however the Logitech’s produced a sound akin to being hit by a hollow funnel bat – a reverberation of bass. So as an example, a bass drum note which ideally should have been about 0.3s long was more like 0.5s long because of the bleed.

Game Test:
Neither World of Warcraft nor Plants vs. Zombies really uses surround sound in their gaming products like some other games (Doom 3 springs to mind), however for the immersion effect, the Z323′s worked well enough. While I won’t go so far as to say that it felt like I was in Azeroth fighting the Scourge horde, the sound was clear enough to serve its purpose. You could set the Z323s up in a room, turn them up and forget about anything outside that little world.

Movie Test:
Again the fuzziness of the speakers and the bass bleed came into the forefront with the movie test. If you’re planning on watching movies at around half volume, these speakers aren’t bad, but they’re definitely not the first choice for building a media center type PC (unless you’re just streaming from the PC, of course). The “surround” aspect of the speakers was firmly planted in the “not bad” area, but not really excelling. These speakers sound immersive for being a 2.1 system, but don’t buy the hype that these will replace a true surround system.

Conclusion:
In the sub-0 range, these speakers aren’t bad at all. There aren’t too many speakers on the market right now in the -80 price range that can truly be called awesome speakers – including these. While these may not be an amazing speaker, they are above adequate. That being said, if you’re just looking for a cheap pair of speakers to get sound that’s better than the ones built into your monitor, there are cheaper alternatives available which produce sound not too far off from these. On the flip side of the coin, these speakers are not the ones to get if you’re looking to build PC to watch movies on or play environmentally immersive games (nor if you’re just an audiophile, but I suppose that’s implied).

These speakers are a good choice for users who have limited space available and don’t plan on playing their sound on very high volume (like apartment dwellers or kids computers).

Wonderful addition for a desktop computer, November 17, 2009

I own a lot of Logitech products from webcams to notebook risers so I knew I was receiving a quality item.

Setting up the system took about five minutes and that was opening the box and plugging in the wires. I decided to try them out on my desktop computer. I placed the satellite speakers on the each of the monitor on my desk and the sub-woofer on the floor but raised it a bit on a small stand. The system was `plug n’ play’ and no software was needed.

I tested these out with watching videos on a well known video site. I watched TV/movie clips which came in very clear. I played a few music videos but found myself adjusting the bass level, which is at the back of the sub-woofer to find a comfortable level for listening. Once I found what I considered to be the right setting for me I decided to play some of my Amazon Video on Demand TV shows. I was very impressed with the sound quality. It is very clear and no interference whatsoever from any of the other devices I have in my office. Having the satellite speakers on the side of my desk I had full benefits of the `360′ sound. It was nice not to have the sound directional but to be able to walk around and still hear the sound from the side very well.

I have been using these speakers for two weeks now and did not know what I was missing until I plugged these in. The speakers are very attractive as well with a nice shiny look to them. At the time of writing this review I cannot thing of one negative thing about these speakers. I would recommend these to someone looking for a great set of speakers without wanting to break the bank. I would also say these are great speakers for apartments or dorms since you can adjust the bass level on the sub-woofer. Logitech has done it once again with another quality product.

Good audio/video but has issues, October 4, 2011

I’ve had this unit for about 2 weeks. I’ve made notes along the way and will just list them.

No particular order
Pros:
1. DVD Playback video and sound is excellent although I did have component video before direct from Sat to TV.
2. FM Coax connection. Allows me to connect my rooftop TV antenna to use as an FM antenna. I’m about 30 miles from the nearest radio transmitter and it picks up stations very well.
3. Optical input from TV so when I’m using the TV antenna for local channels I get high quality audio.
4. DLNA quality during playback is as good as listening from a PC connected wirelessly to the same server.
5. DLNA playback shows title, artist, album, file type and recording quality.
6. Hulu+, Netflix, NHL Vault (don’t use any of those). Youtube, HD Movies on demand, Flickstream movie previews and other streaming video/audio.
7. Integrated facebook link.
8. Integrated browser (I think it’s linux-based).
9. Online firmware updates.
10. Included iPod dock. (don’t use, don’t see the point)
11. Includes set up mic for speakers. Not sure if this really helps but it’s supposed to.

Cons:
1. Audio cuts out sometimes then unit freezes when I try to shut it down to correct issue.
2. Youtube loads slow.
3. Can’t stream video via the web browser (i.e. from TV network sites).
4. Images on DLNA are very hard to find unless all of your photos are labeled and/or dated properly.
5. DLNA is junk. I have multiple albums from multiple artists and some are compilations or from movies. The system sorts them all by artist. Some artists aren’t listed in the artist folder but are found in the album folder. Not all albums are shown. It’s a huge mess and I won’t use it.
6. There is a very annoying white light on the front of the unit (like a Cylon or KITT but white). It’s a pointless light, only changes when you press any button on the remote, I guess to let you know it’s received it.
7. The display on the unit is on the top of it so you can’t see anything unless you are right there.
8. Volume displays on TV only in DVD, DLNA or Tuner mode.
9. Unit was on mute for about 10 minutes and when I unmuted it, a loud static-like buzz noise rang through the speakers. The only way I got it to stop was to turn off the unit, wait 3-5 minutes for it to actually turn off, then turn it back on again.
10. No component or composite input; outputs only.
11. No actual input buttons on the remote. Only a Function button and if you don’t wait long enough between pushes of the button, you will pass over the mode you want, plus you have to be within a few feet of the unit to read the mode in the display.
12. Unit seems to always check for DVD/BD upon startup. If no disk is in drive you can’t switch to that mode (getting ready to insert DVD want it on DVD mode but you can’t until you insert disk). Not a huge problem but I find it annoying.
13. Video cut out when unit was turned on (several times during the first few days). Had to press Home, select output to get it back.
14. Limited on streaming music (from internet).
15. Speaker connections on unit are specific to the unit. If the included wire isn’t long enough, splicing has to be done.
16. TV ads are sometimes (most of the time) louder than the program or movie being watched.
17. Closed Captioning setting on Sat receiver don’t work through this unit. Yes, I know this is a unit for sound but if you have someone in your home that wants to watch TV late and can’t hear everything, CC helps but you can’t use it. I can’t find any CC settings within the unit.
18. Remote functions are not all compatible with my Harmony remote.

So far that’s all I’ve got. I’m torn between returning it and living with it. I’m going to give it at least another 2 weeks and see.

I did buy my first BluRay movie and I’m very disappointed. The audio and video weren’t at all better than standard DVD movies. Maybe they spent all their time and money on the 3D part which I can’t use.

If I find more I’ll add to this if it let’s me.

So far very happy, January 29, 2012

Bought this system 12/22 at Costco for 9 and paired it with a Sony Bravia KDL-55EX621 also at Costco for 50. With Costco you pay a little more including sales tax but I can get it myself and not worry about delivery issues, also can be returned with no questions asked at any time.
Very happy so far, couple tiny issues with the sound cutting out when I was recording or playing via DVR, but the sound is great and internet access seems very solid (via my Comcast wireless router)
Have tried all features, happy with everything but now I have the surround sound bug and may want to get more or better speakers.
Definitely would recommend (also recommend the tv)

We Like It, December 15, 2011

About a year or so ago I bought a Sony BluRay from Costco, we had been buying the cheap DVD players for about -40/pop, but they would break every 6 months, so we decided it was time to shell out a bit for something that would hopefully last us at least 5 years. We use antenna and NetFlix, the Netflix was choppy and the menu was annoying. We took it back after a few months and got a Panasonic BluRay with wifi and surround sound. Huge improvement with connectivity with Netflix, the sound was pretty good. About a week or so ago I see the Sony wifi BluRay with surround sound for the same price we paid for the Panasonic. We exchange the Panasonic for the Sony. Sony must have made some improvements with their connectivity issues with Netflix.

The sound is awesome. It’s harmonious. With the panasonic the subwoofer didn’t blend the bass as well with the background. The streaming from Netflix is faster than the Panasonic and flawless. This unit is generally better than the previous Sony or Panasonic BluRay we had. It seems sturdier. I would like it if I could see the volume numbers up or down like I could on the other ones, just the light blinks, the buttons are on top, they are fancy looking but should probably be where one can see them when sitting down. Meh, that’s nitpicking to me, I’m not a big-time consumer so a purchase like this is HUGE for me, and I’m very happy with it to date. I think if someone has problems with the unit misbehaving, being slow, et al., call customer service. This is why I make purchases like this from CostCo…amazing return policy (plus they give very fair prices and are a GREAT place to work).

Sleek Design and a Space Saver, June 27, 2010

I purchased this sleek Panasonic Stereo System primarily to use with my IPOD and the IPhone that I have pre-ordered. I am using it in the kitchen and it takes up very little space on the counter since it is only 3-4 inches deep. For it’s size, it produces a rich sound and the clarity of the speakers is superb. It has a full-function remote with buttons for many features that I’m sure I’ll never use that others might appreciate. In addition to the remote, there are buttons for the main functions on top of the system that can be easily memorized (by placement) and accessed.

After attaching the AM and FM antennas, the various stations were easy to preset and sounded good. I have yet to play the CD player, however with the IPOD, I don’t really plan on using it much. The system can be mounted to the wall if you want to put holes in your walls and have the power chord hanging down from it, however it takes up so little space, I didn’t really feel the need.

The system looks high-tech and it sounds great. The bass sounds much better than you would expect given the slimness of the speakers. It has an AUX-In port on the back of it if you have an MP3 player as well. The only minor negative is accessing the IPOD dock. The first thing you need to do is hit the IPOD button which slides the front panel to the right exposing the IPOD dock. Once open, it has a lever that needs to be pushed and then it tilts out toward you for easy removal. While not difficult, it all takes time which I’m a little concerned about when I get my IPhone and I hear it ring. If you leave the IPOD dock open the silver CD portion of the front panel covers more than half of the right speaker and there is a noticable difference in sound.

All in all, I’m very happy with it and when not in use, it just sits there and looks cool! If you are only concerned about the quality of sound, I’d suggest a boom box with larger speakers such as the Sony MHC-EC69i Mini Hi-Fi Shelf System which is much cheaper, has an additional 60 watts and has a deeper bass sound that fills up a room (I have one of these as well).

7/19/10 UPDATE: Received my pre-ordered IPhone 4 and it is not compatible with the dock in the Panasonic. It displays “NODEVICE” despite being snuggly fit into place. Plan B: Buy an IPOD dock and an audio cable and plug it into the AUX port on the back of the unit. Still sounds great!

Almost Great – but no time display, June 19, 2010

It is a beautiful design, great sound for a little unit, convenient that it plays radio, CD, ipod, etc. and love that it can be wall hung – pretty and discreet for a bedroom.

BUT! I purchased this to replace a CD/clock radio alarm unit, and would have liked to have known that this unit DOES NOT display the time! You can use the remote to display the time, and it will momentarily display the time when you turn it on, but once you’ve stopped listening, i.e. turned the unit off, there is no time display, which means that you can’t use it to see the time in the middle of the night/early morning. This seems like a huge design oversight on the part of Panasonic – most portable models even 20-30 years old routinely display the time.
Also, Panasonics customer service cannot tell me how to turn the alarm OFF if I want to sleep in! This seems like it should be very basic to figure out from the manual, or an easy question to answer for a tech rep, but no….30 minutes on the phone, and then disconnected with no answer. I am a university professor and am fairly adept at reading the english language, and the manual does not contain this basic information. Still deciding whether to return it or not (I purchased it elsewhere). Maybe someone out there has figured it out?

FM reception, August 30, 2010

Weak tuner. Radio reception is horrible. I live in a big city, and unable to get stereo, just static filled FM.
This unit replaces a sony in the kitchen, that did not require an antennae. Even the wire antennae supplied with this one, strung to the ceiling, will not get me stereo reception.

If you want value for your money, if you lose your headphones too often, if you wear out the cord, or plug on your headphones, these are the ones to get. I have a couple of MP3 players I use at work daily and with them I wear my headphones constantly. I either lose or wear them out whether they are more expensive or cheaper. I was absolutely startled at the bass that came our of these phones. It is deep, rich and accurate. Overall sound is better than a pair I once had that cost me about 10 times as much. Knowing that I would either wear them out or lose them I bought 4 pairs this time. I will definitely buy more when the need arises. An excellent deal, I highly recommend these phones.

Best in class, March 21, 2006

These are the best portable headphones in this price range. Good bass and smooth, natural sound. In fact they would probably still be the best bang for the buck at three times the price. If you can afford more, consider the Sennheiser PX100 for about 40-50 dollars. But if you’re on a budget or don’t want to worry about losing or breaking a more expensive pair of headphones, these are definitely the ones to get.

Best headphones I have ever owned, March 3, 2008

Now, I know that may sound cliche, but it’s true. I am rough on headphones, plain and simple. I use them at work, shove them in my purse to take home on the weekends, shove them in my laptop case, take them back to work, and rip them on and off my ears all day long. I always kill the cords, and I always seem to lose sound in one ear.

So, when I broke my last set – much to my fury – I set out to find a new one… this set was one of two I ordered. It was the cheaper of the two, initially purchased as a back-up in case the more expensive ones I bought went dead unexpectedly.

Heh. I prefer these to the more expensive ones. I’ve hardly touched those ones.

Seriously, they have the best bass I have EVER had on a headset. Ever. And, I confess, I’m all about the bass.

These lasted longer than most brands I’ve had, sound fabulous, and are finally, after almost a year and a half of hard use, are just barely (and I do mean barely)starting to wear down. For me, that’s a record. I kill headphones too quickly. I am seriously going to purchase another set, because I was so entirely pleased with these. They’re inexpensive, lightweight, and sound amazing.

So, sure, perhaps these won’t be your cup of tea if your all into high-tech equipment and sound recording, etc. I’m not. I just want a set of phones that lets me hear every single note and rhythm that my MP3 player or Window’s Media Player has to offer. I don’t think I can sing their praises enough. They are AWESOME, and I entirely recommend them to anyone just wanting to listen to music and hear all the great sound your player, disc, or computer has to offer.

Beautifully designed, good sound, compact size, October 26, 2011

Customer Video Review Length:: 7:58 Mins

I own several bluetooth wireless speaker systems, the most recent of which is this Bose Soundlink. But I also own the Altec Lansing iMW725 inMotion Air Universal Wireless Speaker and considering its sound quality and price, its an extremely worthy consideration.

The Bose Soundlink speaker system is a well-made, except for the aux input on the back panel which looks unfinished, otherwise It is substantial in construction. It’s a bit hefty for a truly portable speaker, depending on what your definition of portable is. I’ve compared the sound of the Bose Soundlink to quite a few other speakers, including the aforementioned Altec-Lansing iMW725 and it’s got good sound, but it’s certainly not the golden standard by which all speakers should be judged.

The integrated cover/stand protects the speaker when its not in use but also serves as the speaker base/stand when the speaker is in use. The magnetic closure works really well and an added feature is that if the speaker is operating, simply closing the cover automatically turns off the speaker. That’s a thoughtful touch.

The speaker just exudes quality. I really don’t understand how Bose could leave the aux input looking so unfinished though. It’s really odd since it’s so obvious. Maybe it’s not a big deal, but for a relatively expensive piece of gear, I expect more. If feels good, it looks good and the sound is decent although I would not say it was spectacular.

It does have the ability to play very loud and produces a substantial amount of bass for a speaker so small. Bose is known for doing amazing things in the way their speakers produce bass and this speaker is no exception. However good the bass is, I did find this speaker lacking clarity and definition in the mid and high range. When this speaker is compared side by side to the Altec Lansing iMW725, the difference is profound. I can’t tell you it’s “better” than the Bose because that is a subjective judgement. For me, I do like the clarity of sound the Altec Lansing provides over the Bose Soundlink. However the Bose does produce more bottom end sound so if that’s what you like, you may prefer the Bose for that reason.

The Bose Soundlink has the ability to remember up to 6 different bluetooth devices which is great. If you attempt to add a 7th device, it will simply “forget” one of the previously paired devices to make room for the new device. No worries though, you can always add the “forgotten” device back at a later time.

There is no remote control provided and that’s not really a big deal because if you’re using an iPhone, for instance, you can control the loudness of the output of the iPhone on the phone itself, as well as stopping, pausing or changing song selections. But I can see where having a remote could be an advantage in some situations.

The volume control lacks any indication of where you are on the scale of loudness although the Bose has a volume indicator that will blink twice when the minimum or maximum level has been reached. But you don’t really have any idea where you are on that scale visually.

There is no tone adjustment on the speaker, all adjustments of that nature would have to be made on the device from which the Soundlink is paired to.

The ability to hook up an auxillary device via the provided mini-plug cable is very handy particularly if you want to hook up an mp3 player or other device that does not have any bluetooth capability. I’ve successfully paired a laptop, iPhone and desktop computer, all with bluetooth to the Soundlink with no difficulty whatsoever.

Overall I like the Bose Soundlink although I don’t feel as strongly about the quality of the sound. It is quite compact in size yet is solid. I can’t really believe that it gets as loud as it does with little distortion (always remember the “garbage in garbage out” maxim though. It will not magically make low bit-rate mp3′s sound good.) It “feels” good, has excellent build quality (except for the funky looking aux input,) it looks good and the batteries last a good long time. You can expect anywhere from 3-6 hours depending on how loud you have the system playing.

I would really recommend you listen to it before purchase if possible. As I’ve said, the Altec-Lansing iMW725 is 30-40% less in cost and to my ears provides an excellent sound, better balanced with no heaviness or boominess in the low-end, with much better stereo separation than the Bose and it has a remote control! But the form factor is different and in that regard I prefer the Bose.

It’s worth mentioning that there are a variety of different colored covers available for the Soundlink. They’re a bit pricey but do allow you to make yours stand out…

Wow!, September 27, 2011

I am writing this about five hours after having received the Bose SoundLink Wireless Speaker. I opened the box, took the speaker out and in 2 minutes paired it with my Toshiba Thrive Tablet. I then played some classical music and said to myself, “Oh my goodness!” The sound of these speakers is amazing. The violins sound clear and distinct. Horns sound undistorted and smooth. The piano sounds like you are in the first row of the concert hall. The bass is at just the right mix with the mid-level and higher sounding instruments. The clarity of the sound is what stands out.

I then paired up an IPOD touch and played “Never My Love” by the Association. The vocals were clear and distinct and the instrumentation blended in very nicely. I am no audiophile but I am pretty discriminating. At several volume levels, these speakers sound great. They are among the best I have ever listened to.

With all of this, these speakers are portable because of the built-in battery. You can take these anywhere and have this quality of music. Amazing!

I have not seen any indication of some issues a few critics have mentioned. There was virtually no distortion and the sound did not seem to me to be compressed and equalized as some have observed.

Yes, you are paying a premium for a Bose product, but if you want quality, then this product is worth it.

I look forward to many hours of immersion in my favorite music, sounding very clear and true.

Bose hit a home run with this. I want to make it clear that this is an honest review and I have no connection with Bose whatsoever. Buy this and enjoy. I would give it six stars if I could.

Amazing Speaker, September 25, 2011

I recently purchased a Jambox because I was looking for a small wireless speaker that I could just throw in a bag and take wherever. While the size of the Jambox was nice, I always felt that it lacked in sound quality and felt the max volume was much too quiet. Thankfully Bose introduced this product while I was still in the return period with the Jambox, so I returned the Jambox and payed the extra in order to get the Soundlink. I was not completely sure what to expect from the Soundlink. I have one of the Sounddock speakers, and the sound from that device is amazing, so I was not expecting it to sound as good due to the smaller size, but just wanted something that surpassed the Jambox in volume and sound quality.

When I got the Soundlink home and tried it out, I was completely surprised. This little thing sounds amazing! As some other reviewers said, this really does make the Jambox sound like a toy in comparison. It really is quite amazing that something this small and portable produces audio that sounds this good. It is significantly larger than the Jambox, but its size still makes it very easy to take around in a bag. If you are looking for a portable, wireless, battery-powered speaker, you will not find a better one than the Soundlink Mobile speaker from Bose.

This cable is made of shielded RG6 coax cable with gold RCA ends. The ends fit snug and won’t rattle out of your sub or reciever. The sound quality is perfect. It is not the most flexible of cables but that shouldn’t really matter. You can’t beat them for the price. I’m happy. Don’t waist a ton of money on “premium cables” that will not sound any better.

Not your typical cable…., July 16, 2011

“A cable is a cable,” you say? Well not this one. It surpasses your ordinary RCA cable by far. While most RCA cables plug in and remain relatively loose and… friction free, this cable grips the terminal very nicely. Thanks to the tighter connection with the terminal, there is a lot more friction which means that the cable is making contact and connecting much better than your standard RCA cable. Gold ends and double shielding to boot make this cable a great choice for a subwoofer cable for your new, or existing, home theater system.

Great product, February 8, 2011

agree with other reviewers… just the matter of inserting it first time, all set. But its not too big (only 8 ft) and not so flexible (its thick), so mobility is not great. But if you are 1 like me who will keep subwoofer in close proximity (as my home allows), it is for you… can’t beat the price. Sound quality is as good as 1 from best buy (dynex) which I returned as it costs double…

For a basic system with basic speakers it works pretty well.
You have to remember it’s splitting wattage per speaker and will not power 350 watts to each.
I agree it’s not perfect but not expected.
Remember to turn it off completely by the main power switch on the RECEIVER.
For my need working out.

the fan keeps it cool but is a little louder than i would like, basic as far as i can tell, works as described.

the remote is the best way for me to control it cause i can’t adjust the eq without it.

Not bad for the price, January 11, 2012

Only had the unit a short period of time, but it seems to be a pretty good unit. It functions as it should and performs as I want with good output to the speakers I attached. It does have some quirkiness to it though. The full fuction remote is nice and does more that I expected it to, however the only way to adjust the Bass, Treble, and 3 pre-set “equalizer” choices on this unit is thru the remote control. The remote also offers the controls for setting the units Surround functions (2.1, 3.1, or 5.1). So don’t loose the remote if you want to adjust these at all. When you turn the unit “off” with the remote it does stop playing and says goodbye on the display screen, but does not fully power down. There are lights around the tuning and volume knobs that stay on. These lights will go out when you use the power button on the unit itself. Another quirk is that it seems to have a pre-set default volume level of 18. It sets itself to that level when you turn it on or when you change from one input to another. For instance, lets say you are listening to Aux 1 at volume level 10 and you decide to change to aux 2. When you change to aux 2, it will automatically adjust to volume level 18. It will startle you if you’re not ready for it. It does have a built in fan on the back that runs constantly and seems a little loud, but not an annoyance (at least to me).
Overall I am happy with the purchase.
